| Whenever you need help, one press of your lightweight, waterproof help button activates a small in-home unit called a communicator. Each subscriber has a communicator unit attached to the telephone and a portable button that can be worn around the neck or carried in a pocket. The user can be as far as 200 feet from the telephone and still benefit from the program.
At the first sign of trouble, the subscriber pushes the button on the portable unit. This automatically puts you in touch with our hospital's Nursing Service Department where trained personnel immediately call back to find out the problem.
If the subscriber does not answer, our Nursing Staff contacts responders whose names have been supplied by the subscriber.
In addition to the list of responders, the Nursing Service Staff will have a brief medical history of each subscriber and their private physician's name. They may assist the responders by contacting the necessary parties, such as police, rescue unit and private physician as appropriate.
There is also a timer in the home unit. If this timer is not reset with the established 24 hour limit, the unit automatically signals RC Hospital & Clinics that help is needed.
